Literature and Urbanism
Most of world’s population today lives in cities. Therefore, urbanism and the urban environment tightly affect who we are as human beings. Literary Urban Studies is an emerging research field, part of the spatial turn of humanities. This field emphasizes the relationships between the actual city and the poetic city, the city that is captured in words. Literary urban research is interdisciplinary; it follows issues that associate languages and environment, combining literature research theories with relevant social-urban, humanistic geography approaches and urban studies.
